Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon

Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) is the leading mass participation run and the only World Athletics Gold Label race (pre-pandemic) in Southeast Asia. With the world of athletics in recovery, 2022 race will be a World Athletics Label race.

Since 2002, the race has given runners unparalleled running experiences. Runners thread through the heart of the city, seeing Singapore’s heritage sites, iconic skylines and landmarks such as Chinatown, Little India, Marina Bay Sands, and Gardens by the Bay.

The race sees approximately 50,000 professional, avid, and leisure runners yearly. SCSM is inevitably a catalyst in growing our local and international running community as we make running a way of life.

Merlion

The Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and the body of a fish, a Singapore icon.

Orchid

The Orchid is known for its vibrant colours, hardiness and resilience – qualities that reflect the Singapore spirit.

SCSM HISTORY

1982

Started out as a ‘fun run’, Singapore marathon was founded. Organised by the Singapore International Marathon Organising Committee then, the inaugural event saw Raymond Crab from the UK and Winnie Ng from Hong Kong to first cross the finishing line.

After a resounding success and with encouraging response, Singapore Marathon returned with its second edition.

The IRONMAN® Group acquired Singapore Marathon.

2019

Singapore Marathon became the only World Athletics Gold Label race in Southeast Asia.

Together with the first-ever evening Marathon, Half Marathon and Ekiden flag-off, a brand-new three-day format was introduced in 2019, cementing SCSM's status as a marquee running festival in Singapore and the region.

Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon Virtual Club launched.

2020 marks the 19th edition of SCSM as well as the 39th edition of Singapore's biggest race.

SCSM celebrated 20 years partnership with Standard Chartered Bank.
