Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2021 International Women’s Day
Singapore, 3 March 2021 – Organisers of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) is commemorating International Women’s Day (IWD) 2021 with a series of virtual races, challenges, workshops, sharing sessions and content around celebrating women in Singapore over a three-week period from 8 to 31 March. It will be the first SCSM Virtual Club (VC) campaign for 2021 with an aim to rally and shine the spotlight on female runners within the community.
The SCSM VC is an all-in-one engaging and rewarding platform launched last year to bring the running community together through weekly races and challenges, and it includes an online store with redeemable rewards, training and nutritional resources, and performance tracking. This year, the organisers’ plan for SCSM VC is to continue to foster stronger bonds within the running community through various meaningful ways.
As part of the IWD campaign, there will be a three-week long collective distance challenge available for all runners of the SCSM VC. It will be an open-goal challenge, held from 8 to 31 March, where runners can clock in as many runs and walks as they can to contribute towards the overall community distance.
Female runners can also look forward to sweating it out through a series of fun and heart-pumping workout sessions with three respected fitness influencers in Singapore – Sofie Chandra, Cheryl Tay, and Choo Ling Er. Get up close and personal with each of the influencers at the end of each session with an exclusive sharing session, where they will share their insights and personal experience over a range of topics such as fitness goals and their struggles as female athletes. Members will also walk away with free goodie bags at the end of the sessions.
Running and fitness enthusiast Sofie Chandra, who is also Captain of adidas Runners Singapore, will be hosting a run and strength conditioning session where participants will be taken for an outdoor run with strength workouts conducted in between.
Fitness trainer and IRONMAN triathlete Cheryl Tay will be organising an outdoor bootcamp session where she will lead participants through a series of cardio, strength and core exercises.
Choo Ling Er, a six-time IRONMAN Kona World Championship finisher and fitness instructor, will be guiding participants through a pulsing and high-tempo indoor spin workout.
All participants of the SCSM IWD Challenge are also invited to join the IWD social media contest by nominating an amazing woman who have inspired their own fitness journey on Instagram to stand a chance to win a Jaybird Run XT worth $299. Contest will run from 8 to 31 March and a winner will be announced on 2 April.
