Will there be any priority registration?

There will be no priority registration this year.

Is there a discount for Standard Chartered Cardholders?

There is no discount applicable to Standard Chartered Cardholders this year.

What are the categories available for this year?

We have both in-person and Virtual categories available.

1. VR Marathon  (42.195km from 3 November to 12 December)
2. VR Marathon -Double Up Challenge (42.195km from 19 November to 12 December)
3. Grand Finale Virtual Race (5km, 10km, Half Marathon, kids 1.5km and kids 3km)

Please note that you must register on the SCSM Virtual Club to participate in the run. You can only purchase race entitlements here.

For the in-person category, you will need to complete your registration here and be provided instructions to finalise your registration through the SCSM Virtual Club.

What is the minimum age to participate?

– Participants must be 14 years and above as of 31 December 2021 to participate in the Ekiden.
– A Participant must be 14 years and above as of 31 December 2021 to participate in the 10km race.
– A Participant must be 10 years and above as of 31 December 2021 to participate in the 5km race.

What is the distance for Virtual Grand Finale categories?

The Virtual categories includes 5km, 10km and Half Marathon. There will be 2 categories for kids as well – a 1.5km and 3km.

What are the distances for the in-person categories?

The in-person categories includes 5km, 10km and Ekiden – Team Relay of 4.

I saw the VR Marathon Medal but what is the distance?

It is an accumulative run distance of 42.195km between 3 November and 12 December.

How much is the registration fee?

Registration is free for the Virtual Race, however if you would like to purchase the race entitlement items:

1. VR Marathon Medal – $25
2. Grand Finale Virtual Race – $50
3. Kids VR medal – $20

 

Registration for the In-person categories:

1. Grand Finale 5km OR 10km – $50
2. Grand Finale Ekiden (Team Relay of 4) – $200

What are the race entitlement items?

VR Marathon Medal will receive 1 x VR Marathon Medal

Grand Finale 5km, 10km & Toyota Ekiden (in-person) – Grand Finale Medal & T-shirt

Grand Finale VR 5km, 10km & Half Marathon (Virtual) – Grand Finale Medal & T-shirt

Can I sign up for more than one category?

Yes, you can sign up for more than one category if you would like to.

Can I register as an international participant?

Overseas participants can sign up for the VR events available on the SCSM VC platform and be a part of SCSM 2021 Grand Finale virtually.

If you are an overseas visitor who happen to be visiting Singapore during the race weekend of 4-5 December through Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL), you may wish to sign up for the in-person race.

Do you provide international shipping for the VR race entitlement items?

Yes however, due to the current situation we only ship to the following countries – Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand & Vietnam.

What is the shipping fee for the race entitlement items?

Local shipping – $5 if completing the VR events only
International shipping – $25

When will we receive our race entitlements?

Participants who registered for the in-person category will receive the items on the event day itself after the run.

For participants who registered for the Virtual category, you will receive your items 1-2 weeks after the week of 6-10 December.

Is it compulsory to purchase the Grand Finale Race Entitlements if I am participating in the Virtual race?

Purchase of the Grand Finale Race Entitlement items is not compulsory.

Can I run both the VR and in-person races together?

You can register for multiple races across the 12 days of the Grand Finale, although you will only be able to complete the in-person race between 4-5 December.

Should you run the distance you registered for more than once during the SCSM Grand Finale period (1 – 12 Dec), only your first activity matching the goal of this race will be taken in.

I registered for the in-person race but if I am unable to attend, can I still receive my race entitlement items?

Yes, however an additional local shipping fee of $5 will apply.

How do I know if I have successfully registered?

All registered participants will receive a confirmation email and receipt upon successful registration to the email address used at time of registration.

I registered but did not receive my confirmation email and receipt.

Please allow up to 2 hours to receive your confirmation email. There are several reasons you may have not received your confirmation slip after this time period:

– It could be in your spam/junk folder.
– Registration was unsuccessful.
– The email address entered at time of registration is incorrect.

Please email in to [email protected] providing the email address used at time of registration process for the team to check your registration status.

Can I change my T-shirt size?

T-shirt sizes can be changed up to 22 November 2021, 11.59pm subject to availability of the requested size.

After this date, no changes in T-Shirt size will be accepted. Please select your T-shirt size appropriately during the registration process.

Am I allowed to change race category?

Yes, the last date to change race category is 22 November 2021, 11.59pm, please write in to [email protected] for assistance.

Change of race category is subject to slot availability.

When is the last date to register?

22 November 2021,11.59pm (GMT +*8), unless sold out prior to this date.

Will a refund be available if the event cannot go ahead due to Covid-19?

Participants can choose from 2 options should the event not be able to go ahead due to Covid-19 Government restrictions:

  1. Participants can get their race entitlements delivered to their address used at time of registration
  2. Participants can gain event credit for the 2022 SCSM event (excluding ACTIVE fee)

Refunds will not be provided for any other circumstances as per our standard policy.

Will a refund be available if I am sick with Covid-19 at the time of the race?

Unfortunately, there will be no refunds made once registration is confirmed.

Do I need to be fully vaccinated to participate in SCSM?

  • Your fully vaccinated status as presented on the TraceTogether App or Token; or
  • Negative PET result valid till the end of event duration as presented on TraceTogether App or Token

Do I need to undergo Pre-Event Testing?

If you are non-vaccinated, you are required to undergo Pre-Event Testing (PET) and have a negative PET result valid till the end of event duration as presented on TraceTogether App or Token in accordance to prevailing government guidelines for sporting events

Where is the start and finish point?

Start and finish point is at The Float @ Marina Bay.

Is there a ‘flag off’ time?

There is a Flag Off time for you to select at time of registration. Please only report 1 hour before your selected flag off timing and do not be late.

Can I change my flag off time?

Please email in to [email protected] for assistance. Changes will be subject to availability.

What is the ‘cut off’ time for each distance for the in-person race?

Ekiden (per team member) – 1 hour 15 minutes
10km – 2 hours 30 minutes
5km – 1 hour 15 minutes

What safety measures do you have in place on the course?

The route will be on park connectors and there will be course volunteers placed along the route to provide support in high congestion areas.

There will also be aid stations and medical team placed around the course for support.

Should any runners require any assistance during the run can approach any of the Event Team, volunteers who will assist to provide support.

Will I get a race timing?

Yes, but you will be responsible for ensuring you are registered for the in-person Grand Finale run through the SCSM Virtual Club and track the distance with a participating app that’s synced with your SCSM Virtual Club account.

Find more information here. You will receive an ID wristband during check in procedure for you to collect your race entitlement items after your run.

What do I need to do when I arrive at the venue?

All runners will need to check-in to the venue using the Safe Entry code and show their vaccination status OR valid PET result and then you will be provided with an ID wristband to show when marshalled to the start and to collect your race entitlements at the event of the run.

Do I need to wear a mask at the venue?

Runners are required to wear a mask at all times in the venue. You may take your mask off when you cross the start line. You will be required to put you mask back on after you have completed your run. Masks will be provided at the finish line once you complete your run.

What do I have to bring on race day?

Please remember to bring your ACTIVE confirmation slip with you (printed or digital copy) for check in.

Is there a bag deposit?

There will be no bag deposit available so we recommend you bring only necessary items.

Do I need to undergo self-administered Antigen Rapid Test (ART)?

You will be required to take an Antigen Rapid Test (ART). If you test positive, you should not attend the event and seek medical attention immediately.

Can I still participate if I have recovered from Covid-19?

You are eligible to participate if you fulfil either of these two criterias:

  • Fully vaccinated status as presented on the TraceTogether App or Token; or
  • Negative PET result valid till the end of event duration as presented on TraceTogether App or Token

Can I participate if one of my family members is under quarantine order during the race week?

No, we will not permit participants who have received Health Risk Warnings (HRW), Health Risk Alerts (HRA) or have family members under Quarantine Order (QO) within 10 days of the event.

I have registered for Ekiden and an individual category. Is this allowed?

Yes, but you will need to ensure you are present at the Start venue at the selected times for each event.

What is Ekiden?

Ekiden is a team relay category consisting of 4 members.

What is the distance for Ekiden?

The total distance is 20km.

Does each member run an equal distance?

Yes, each member will run 5km.

Can Ekiden members run more than once for the relay?

No. Each team member only selects 1 leg to run, and it must be a complete team consisting of 4 members. Incomplete teams will not be allowed to participate.

My friend is injured or unable to attend the race. Can I get someone to replace them?

Yes, please drop in an email to [email protected] for assistance.

What is the runner position for?

The runner position indicates the leg you will be running.

How do we indicate our runner position?

This is a required field question on our registration form.

How can I change my runner position?

Please follow the steps below accordingly:

  1. Go to Active My Events Portal: https://myevents.active.com/
  2. Look for Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon Grand Finale 2021 Event
  3. Click on ‘Edit registration’ to change the necessary details

Is there a specific run route? (Virtual)

There will be a suggested run route, but you are free to run your own route.

Will I still receive my race entitlement items if I did not complete the race? (Virtual)

Yes, as long as you have purchased the race entitlement items.

Can I collect my race entitlement items at the in-person event if I purchased for the Virtual Race? (Virtual)

Unfortunately, no. All Virtual entitlement purchase will be mailed to the participants after the event. You will not be allowed to enter the venue if you have registered for the Virtual category.

Do you ship internationally?

All items are final sale meaning that you will not be able to exchange or return an item for a refund.

Will SCSM 2021 Grand Finale Events contribute to my 300KM Club distance?

Yes, participation in both SCSM 2021 Virtual and Physical Grand Finale events will contribute to your 300KM Club distance.

I’ve registered for the in-person and Virtual categories with two different emails

Please register for both using the same email to prevent a creation of duplicate records.

I’ve participated in multiple categories, which distance will be counted?

If you’ve participated in both in-person and virtual categories, only the longest distance will be accounted for.

Only the SCSM 2021 Virtual Grand Finale Half Marathon distance will be accounted for in your 300KM Club distance

What is the 300km club and how can I be part of it?

The 300km Club refers to those who have accumulated a total distance of 300km since 2010 at SCSM events. The race category that you have registered for represents the distance that will be cumulated. As long as you complete a total of 300km, you will be part of the 300km Club. 

Do I have to run consecutive years to be part of the 300km club?

No, you do not have to. It is an accumulation of the distances. 

What benefits does the 300km club get?

Benefits for 300KM Club vary year on year, but include and are subjected to availability:

  • Priority registration
  • Exclusive 300KM novelty items
  • Exclusive 300KM event(s)

 

I am part of the 300km club but did not receive any email and my name is not on the 300km club list on your website.

How do I check if I am part of 300km club?

You can check your membership here

What if I have accumulated a total of 295km since 2010?

You will be eligible to be inducted into the 300km Club when you register for a 10km race category and above.

I have registered as “General” but would like to be registered as part of a Corporate or Running Club – how can I do so?

A wrong session (warm-up…) is taken into account into my VR. What can I do?

You cannot choose which run will be taken into account in this race. Your first activity matching the goal of this race will complete the progression bar.

Please make sure that your warm-up has a shorter distance than all the sessions of our race. You can also permanently remove this session once synchronized on your Dashboard by clicking on it > Delete activity (you will lose all points and associated credits).

I have completed my run but it is showing completion issue or not showing my credits. How do I go about it?

Here is everything to know about our SCSM challenge or VR rules:

  • You need to be registered to the race before your first sessions.
  • Pay attention to the start and end times of the race. Our SCSM VR will usually go from 5:00 AM (GMT+8) on Friday to 11:59 PM (GMT+8) on Sunday. Make sure to check the start and end time on the SCSM VR page. Since hours are displayed in GMT, check the time in your city by clicking here.
  • Activities have to be done and synchronized after the start (GMT +8 time) and before the end (GMT +8 time) of the race.
  • You must run the exact distance of the requested legs. We take into account a small tolerance if you exceed the requested distance, but under no circumstances will a shorter distance be accepted.
  • Do your activities in one go. We will not be able to take into account the activities performed in several parts. So, never stop your watch or app before you’re done. Make sure you have enough battery power for the whole session.
  • The first registered activity that satisfies the conditions of the virtual race will be counted. Be careful not to do a warm-up or any other activity that would count as your race performance. In case of a mistake, you can decide to delete the wrong activity by clicking on it.

Tip: If an activity is synchronized by mistake, and it prevents another valid activity from being taken into account, you can delete it by clicking on it. Attention, this action is irreversible.

Will it be counted as completed if I start my Virtual Run or Challenge run before or after the race ends?

You need to be registered before your first sessions.

Only activities begin after the start and before the end of a VR will count towards your final result. Our SCSM VR will usually go from 5:00 AM (GMT+8) on Friday to 11:59 PM (GMT+8) on Sunday. Make sure to check the start and end time on the SCSM VR page. Our Challenges will usually go from Monday starting 00:01 AM (GMT +8) – Friday ending 11:59 PM (GMT +8).

How do I ensure my tracker is well connected on SCSM Virtual Running Club?

Our platform is compatible with most activity tracking devices and apps such Garmin, Suunto, Polar, Fitbit, Nike+, Runkeeper, MapMyRun, etc. Once logged in, you can connect your account from your Dashboard > Manage my apps.

Please connect only one app to prevent your activities from coming into conflict with each other. Your distances manually entered or GPX imported do not enable you to complete our challenges.

You must connect your app before your first session. When you connect a new app on our platform, only your next activities will be synchronized on our platform. We do not recover your previous runs.

Activities manually entered will not be taken into account by the platform.

1. You run outdoors?

The distance of your sessions practiced outside must be validated by a GPS app or watch. We are compatible with GPS watches or apps. Be sure your GPS is activated

Tip: If you have an Apple Watch, you can install and use Nike+, Runkeeper or MapMyRun that are compatible applications the SCSM Virtual Running Club platform.

2. You run indoors on a treadmill?

If you use a connected treadmill such as Elite, Wahoo or Tacx (with a distance and speed sensor), you can sync it (with ANT+ or Bluetooth) to a compatible device or app then connect it to SCSM Virtual Running Club.

Warning: Your trainer has absolutely to be connected, with a distance and speed sensor to send us information we are able to take into account for challenges and Virtual Races. Otherwise, we would have activities without this needed information.

Most connected trainers are compatible with your watch (Garmin, Polar, Suunto).

Some others have some specificities:

  • Wahoo is compatible with Runkeeper or MapMyFitness (Under Armour).
  • Peloton is compatible with Fitbit.

3. You use a virtual reality racing app like Zwift?

  • Zwift: you can connect it through a compatible app: Garmin, Fitbit, Runkeeper or Under Armour apps (MapMyRun)

Please fill in your weight and height correctly into your settings and use a heart rate monitor as we can carry out performance checks. SCSM will proceed controls on the performances of the runners.

4. Final check: Once connected, please check your device is correctly set up by doing a test activity beforehand.

If you already have a tracker connected but your activities are not automatically synchronized to SCSM Virtual Running Club, disconnect and reconnect your tracker from your account.

  1. Dashboard > Manage my apps > your connected app > Disconnect.
  2. Please give us all the authorizations requested when reconnecting your tracker account.
  3. Take extra care to fill out the correct login credentials when connecting your tracker account.
  4. Ensure that you tracked with the same account that you have connected to Sport Heroes.

Must I always use the same app once I have started connecting to the app?

You can change your tracker app but please connect only one tracker at a time. Avoid that your activities arrive in duplicate on SCSM Virtual Running Club because they could then be in conflict and not taken into account.

When you connect a new app on SCSM Virtual Running Club, only your next activities will be synchronized on our platform. We do not recover your previous runs.

Can I connect to more than 1 app?

Please connect only one app to prevent your activities from coming into conflict with each other. Your distances manually entered or GPX imported do not enable you to complete our challenges.

How do I add my indoor runs? Does it need a GPS?

You must connect your app before your first session. Please connect only one app to prevent your activities from coming into conflict with each other. If you have more than one app connected to your account, activities may be sent twice. One of them will be detected as not valid and will appear in grey.

When you connect a new app on SCSM Virtual Running Club, only your next activities will be synchronized on our platform. We do not recover your previous runs. Your distances manually entered or GPX imported do not enable you to complete our challenges and SCSM VR.

Only activities automatically synced with a duration AND a distance are valid. If your activity has no distance, it will not be taken into account for the race. So the distance of your sessions on a treadmill, stationary bike or home trainer counts in our challenges and SCSM VR only if a device records this data with a distance and speed sensor. (GPS doesn’t apply if you are practicing indoor). You, therefore, must connect them via one of our compatible apps such as Garmin, Suunto, Polar, etc.

An activity can sometimes take a few minutes or hours to be displayed on your Dashboard. Please contact our support only if you do not see this run or ride a couple of hours after.

For treadmill or home trainer activities, make sure you register correctly your height and weight and use a heart rate monitor. All activities may be randomly checked.

What is/are the recommended apps for SCSM Virtual Club /Virtual Race runs?

Is there an app I can use on my phone?

We do not have an app: SCSM Virtual Club is only available on sgmarathonvc.com, which is accessible via all web browsers.

What do I need to join this challenge? How does it work?

A wearable device that tracks time, distance, and heartrate; and one of the apps in the photo to the right.

Prize Fulfillment Conditions (these are listed on each Challenge page)

  • Please note, all challenge prizes can only be shipped to addresses within Singapore. 
  • All winners must complete the challenge to be in the running for the challenge prizes. 
  • Winners of all SCSM Virtual Club Challenges are picked at random. 
  • Winners will be contacted at the email address associated with the SCSM Virtual Club account (check for junk mail and spam). 
  • Winners will then be given 14 days to respond to the form and send the necessary information to receive the prize (including a postal address). 
  • If the winner fails to respond within this time or fails to comply with the instructions, we reserve the right to disqualify that entrant. 
  • No cash alternative to the prizes will be offered. 
  • Prizes are not transferable. 
  • Prizes are subject to availability and IRONMAN reserves the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value. 

How do Challenge prizes work?

Register for a ChallengeWhen you complete a Challenge and sync it to your Dashboard, you will see a prompt to find out if you were an instant winner. Click the button to find out if you won the Challenge prize. Three finishers each week will win. Winners will be notified via email. All winners must complete the challenge in order to be eligible to be in the running to win the prize.

I do not have sufficient points to redeem the item. Can I top up using cash?

No, you can only redeem a discount for an item if you have enough credits in your profile. 

Is there an expiry date for the points earned?

Codes offered by our partners have an expiry date. This is explicitly indicated on the terms of use that appear in our e-mail “Your new reward” or on the page of this offer. 

If no expiry date is indicated, the code is valid for 30 days from the time you redeem your credits. 

I would like to refund the item that I have redeemed, how can I take back my credits?

Unfortunately, once you have clicked to redeem, the credits cannot be taken back.  

What is the minimum points to hit to earn credit?

Points are earned based on the distance that runners complete. Points earned are then converted into Credits at a ratio of 5 points = 1 Credit. 

How does the Rewards work?​

The more runners race and train, the more Points they gain. Their Points are tied to their distance traveled (not their time). Points convert into Credits which can then be used to redeem great Rewards. 

When a reward is redeemed, the athlete will immediately receive a code that then can be applied to products in the SCSM Store or a partner e-commerce website. 

I am an overseas runner. Can I purchase the finisher bundle and do you provide worldwide shipping? ​

Items will be sent for shipping based on the following: 

Core Apparel – 2-7 working days
Virtual Race specific merchandise – 5-10 days
Weekly Virtual Race Bundles – 45-60 days from purchase 

*shipping times may vary based on delivery location & COVID-19 restrictions 

Can I start and complete the run before the stated date & time?

No – Runners must complete the run within the stated period. You need to be registered  before  your first sessions. 

Only activities that begin after the start and before the end of a Virtual Race or Challenge will count towards your final result. 

What do I have to do to complete my SCSM Virtual Race or Challenge?

You must ensure you are registered for the SCSM Virtual Race or Challenge prior to running. You must complete and sync all of your activities for the race with the platform by the finish time of the challenge or VR in order to log an official finishing result. 

Can I sign up for more than one challenge? ​

You can sign up and complete a Challenge as many times as you wish during the set Challenge period of Monday 12:01am (GMT+8) until Friday 11:59 pm (GMT+8) until you win the prize. 

What are the distances available to register? ​

The distances will vary week by week and support the training guides that are provided.  

Where do I run my race?​

Runners can take part in virtual challenges from their home or neighborhood to unlock rewards and train up for SCSM 2020. 

Can I complete the run over multiple runs?​

No, you must complete the specified number of sessions for each Challenge and Virtual Race. You cannot split up the run into multiple sessions. You must complete the required distance in one session to be considered a finisher. 

What is the schedule for the SCSM Virtual Race? ​

A 15-week schedule will be created, comprising 3 weekly challenges and 2 Virtual Races each weekend. Each week’s challenge and Virtual Race will be released the week prior. 

What is the SCSM Virtual Club​?

The SCSM Virtual Club allows runners to continue to train, compete and remain connected to the community in an adaptive and safe environment. 

How do I sign up for a profile​?

Go to https://www.sgmarathonvc.com/ and click the ‘Sign Up’ button in green on the top right hand side of the website.

How do I register for a challenge or a virtual race?

Here’s how to get started for SCSM VR:  

  1. Once logged in to https://www.sgmarathonvc.com/, go to EVENTS and click on this SCSM VR to SIGN UP.

How much is the registration fee? ​

Signing up is free. It’s free to track your training and complete challenges. 

What is the difference between Challenges and Virtual Runs​?

Challenges refer to individual run activities open during the weekdays from Monday 00:01 AM (GMT +8) to Friday ending 11:59 PM (GMT +8)There is no leaderboard or ranking and 3 random winners will be rewarded for completing challenges 

 

Virtual Runs is a series of weekly runs where runners will compete from 5:00 AM (GMT+8) on Friday to 11:59 PM (GMT+8) on Sunday to complete the assigned race distance. Make sure to check the start and end time on the SCSM VR page.  

Individual results will be ranked and shown on a live leaderboard.
