A marathon is one of the most challenging physical activities one can choose to participate in, providing extreme mental and physical challenges throughout the 42.195km. For runners who train and run on a regular basis and for those who are looking to challenge themselves – this is the ideal race for you. Individuals who are new to the sport of running may wish to start with a shorter distance.

*Elite Wheelchair for this category is available. Contact us at [email protected] for registration information.

The Ekiden, a concept which originally began in Japan, is a hugely popular running format. Teams of five runners bring their training and teamwork together to complete 42.195km. The first participant of the team will begin the relay at the same start point and time as the Marathon participants. Each team member will run a section of the marathon, passing the team sash to their next teammate at each of the four Ekiden points.

The half marathon is also considered a long distance and brings its own set of mental and physical challenges. Though it is half as long as a marathon, runners should have trained for the race in advance and it is an ideal race for those working their way up to a Marathon and also for those looking to improve their current running discipline.

The 10km is a category for recreational runners as well as those that are looking to challenge themselves in their first race distance. The distance is perfect for beginners, however runners in this category are still strongly encouraged to undergo some training prior to the race.

*There will be no 10KM Wheelchair category for SCSM 2018.

A new race category added to the SCSM 2018! For non-long distance runners, this is the best distance suitable for people looking to improve or maintain their general physical fitness. A popular distance to introduce runners to start adopting a healthy lifestyle.

As the name suggests, the Kids Dash is a fun event for young runners aged up to 12. The race is designed to encourage kids to participate in a running event and take up the sport while they are young. Kids are encouraged to come out, have fun, and experience the festivities and be part of this momentous occasion. It is non-competitive, hence participants of this category will not be issued with timing chips.
