TRAFFIC ADVISORY AND ROAD CLOSURES FOR
STANDARD CHARTERED SINGAPORE MARATHON FROM 1ST – 3RD DECEMBER 2023

SINGAPORE, 24 November 2023 – The IRONMAN Group, organisers of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) has announced road closures as well as traffic and transport arrangements as SCSM 2023 returns with a new race route from 1 – 3 December 2023 (Friday – Sunday).

This Half Marathon will have a new return route after splitting from the Marathon, allowing for more supporters and spectators to cheer on the participants along the roads of Esplanade and Suntec.

Moreover, the 5km, 10km, and 21.1km races will offer participants an exciting and dynamic race experience with flat sections, gentle slopes, and occasional declines. Runners will pass famous landmarks like the Singapore Flyer, War Memorial Park, and the Merlion, all against the stunning city skyline.

The IRONMAN Group has consulted with partners and authorities to plan a route, manage traffic, and create a seamless race experience for runners, spectators, and the public.

Jeff Edwards, Managing Director of Asia for the IRONMAN Group said: “Ensuring the safety of runners and the public is our top focus. We have carefully designed the new racecourse in close coordination with Sport Singapore and other stakeholders to ensure a safe and remarkable event that will enthral both runners and spectators.”

Facilitating a Smoother Traffic Flow
Race planning has been done in close consultation with relevant authorities, resulting in a route which provides a great experience for runners while minimising disruption for road users and those who live and work in the area. No emergency or essential services such as hospitals will be affected by road closures.

Auxiliary Police Officers and Traffic Management Officers will be deployed at all affected roads to help re-direct traffic and assist the public with alternative routes to their destinations. Road closure signs and Variable Messaging Signs (VMS) will be deployed to facilitate traffic flow.

Alternative Transport Arrangements
Members of the public are strongly advised to plan their journeys ahead of time and are encouraged to use public transport during the affected times between 2 – 3 December 2023.

As there will be no train services in the early hours of 2 – 3 December 2023, SCSM has partnered with ShareTransport to provide runners with shuttle bus services from 26 locations to help runners get to the starting line.
